Bulletin n°179
Longevity is one of the most variable life history traits in the animal kingdom. Here, we report a new world record of longevity for anurans under natural conditions. In a free-ranging population of Yellow-bellied toads (Bombina variegata), using capture-recapture method over a 26-years period, we detected an individual with a minimum age of 28 years. We briefly discuss the implication of our findings for the study of aging in the wild.
