In 1847, Dufour proposed the nomen Salamandra tuberculata, a senior synonym of Hemitriton asper, for the taxon currently recognized as Calotriton asper (Dugès, 1852). In order to sustain stability, the predominant usage should be maintained. We present here the conditions required by article 23.9 of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature for the reversal of precedence.
